Bronze Dancing Queen Sculpture

How this sculpture takes shape.

Original workshop photographs, from the first model to the finished piece.

Developing the pose in clay

The two clay-model photographs record the gesture from different sides. Raised arms, the position of the head and the sweep of the hair establish the movement before the final patina is considered. The repeated horizontal forms also need to be reviewed as a complete silhouette. When adapting this design, discuss the intended overall height and the most important viewing directions together.

Reviewing the unfinished bronze

The casting-stage photograph shows the layered form before its finished surface treatment. It is useful for comparing the underlying shape with the completed photographs: the fine edges, spaces between the layers and longer projecting forms remain central to the character of the piece. Any project-specific requirements for material specification, support or anchoring should be resolved in the written scope.

Green patina and multiple viewing angles

The finished views show how the green patina emphasizes texture and how the silhouette changes when viewed from the front, side and back. These are actual sculpture photographs taken in the workshop display surroundings. They can be used to discuss the preferred finish and presentation; the final color and protective treatment should be confirmed for the intended environment rather than judged from a single photograph.
