Describe the location first
Tell us whether the sculpture will be indoors, outdoors, near water or in a coastal setting. Share site photographs and explain whether people will be able to touch or approach it closely.
Show the appearance you want
Use reference images to describe color, texture, reflective appearance and fine detail. A preferred appearance is a starting point for discussing material and finish options.
Plan scale and support
Include the approximate dimensions and the proposed base or support surface. The structure, weight and site requirements must be reviewed for the agreed design.
Ask about ongoing care
Ask for care recommendations for the proposed material, finish and environment. Confirm the specification in the final proposal.
PREPARE A PROJECT BRIEFCompare the questions, as well as the look.
| Material direction | Appearance to discuss | Details to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | Patina, surface texture and color references | Proposed finish, base, handling and care for the intended setting |
| Marble & carved stone | Stone color, veining, carving and surface finish | Exact stone selection, sample variation, components and lifting access |
| Stainless steel | Reflective, brushed or other specified surface | Proposed grade, seams, finish and site requirements |
| Resin / fiberglass | Painted surface and the intended visual effect | Proposed build, coating, support and intended environment |
These are planning questions rather than a final specification. Ask for the proposed material and finish to be recorded in the quotation.
